A woman shovels dumped waste of copper mine to take out left-over copper in Monywa in northwest Myanmar on Sep 22, 2012. There are farmers like her who take advantage of mining to make some money while villagers around mining project – a joint venture between Chinese Wan Bao Mining Company and military owned Union of Myanmar Economics Holding Ltd – have been protesting against the project which they claim has led to environmental destruction, forced relocations and illegal land confiscations.
